When and Where? The first township comprising one bedroom-kitchen flats, to be built by Tata Housing Development Company (THDC) will be in the Mumbai suburb Boisar, in Thane district. Various Players in the Low Cost Housing Market: Tata Housing Development Company joins other developers like Puravankara, Omaxe and Housing Development & Infrastructure Ltd (HDIL) that have moved to the affordable housing segment, because that still represents a big market with unmet need. India faces a shortage of 24.7 million dwelling units, with three-fourths of this deficit being in the middle and low-income groups.
The Trend is strong: Others entrepreneurs including Mphasis founder Jaithirth Rao, NGO Janaagraha founder Ramesh Ramanathan and Bangalore based CSC Constructions are also said to be interested into entering this segment and are drawing up their housing projects.

If you wish to apply, you can purchase the Application form booklet at Rs. 200/- from the SBI branches at Boisar (02525-566945, 266742), Virar (0250 – 250 3528 , 250 2477), Vasai (0250 – 233 2293, 234 9702), Palghar (02525 – 252 035, 250 066), Nallasopara (0250 – 240 4195), Dahanu Road (02528 – 222 360, 222 206), Thane (W) (022 – 2539 8711), Borivili (W) (022 – 2895 1213) & Andheri (E) (022 – 6553 8658, 2683 6975)
After purchase of the Application form booklet, bookings should be made from 11th May onwards for 2 weeks along with the initial booking amount of Rs. 10,000/- through bank pay order at above branches of SBI bank across Mumbai. The first list and the waiting list will be declared after 14 days of the final booking after a thorough scrutiny of the submitted Application form booklets. The allotted would be sent allotment letters from TATA Housing along with the payment schedule. Details of other requirements have been provided in the Application form booklet itself.
